One chain restaurant ― Panera Bread ― has opened a new location in Milwaukee and another ― Wingstop ― plans to expand in the city.
Here’s a rundown on each of them:
Panera To-Go
A Panera To-Go location opened Nov. 18 at 1800 E. North Ave. It’s a first-floor space in the Edge on North apartment building, which also includes Insomnia Cookies and FreshFinPoké.
Panera To-Go restaurants are take-out only, with self-serve ordering kiosks. The new spot employs 35 to 40 people, according to a Panera news release. Its hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays.
It’s the second Panera Bread downtown ― there’s another at 600 E. Ogden Ave. ― and the first in the To-Go format.
There are 13 Paneras in the Milwaukee area. A new location opened in September at 850 N. Mayfair Road in Wauwatosa and another is planned for 3020 S. 108th St. in West Allis.
Wingstop
Wingstop plans to open a new location at 1844 S. 15th St., according to a Milwaukee occupancy permit application.
It’s in a small strip mall between West Forest Home Avenue and West Burnham Street.
Wingstop’s menu features chicken wings, sandwiches and tenders, along with sides.
The application said the restaurant plans dine-in and carry-out service, but no drive-thru. The proposed hours are 10:30 a.m. to midnight every day. There was no proposed opening date on the application.
