VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Sunday night, a crowd of people had heavy hearts as they grieved the loss of a loved one taken away too soon.

Early Wednesday morning, Fransico Bisono and Shawn Babonis were killed in a crash on Shipps Corner Road in Virginia Beach.

They were passengers in the car. The driver, Adam Cieniewicz fled the scene and was later arrested and charged with felony hit and run. Michelle Bisono told 10 On Your Side her son was lovingly called “Kiko,” calling him a kind soul who would anyone in need.

Through tears, she took us back to the moment she found out he was gone.

”Thankfully there’s a very sweet coroner and medical examiner who said, it’s not protocol but he understands because there’s multiple people and he went a took a picture, because I know my son’s hands. He took a picture of it and I could see his hand and I know that was my son,” she said.

Moving forward, she wants to contact the city so they can implement more precautions around Shipps Corner Road so that a tragedy like this never happens again.
