New Rochelle police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a woman in a downtown apartment building.

Charges are pending against Robert Wooten, 28, who was arrested Saturday night in Queens less than 12 hours after the body of Meisha Williams was discovered in her apartment when police responded to a call to 55 Clinton Place just before 10:15 am, police said in a news release Sunday afternoon.

Williams, 30, and Wooten knew each other but the exact nature of the relationship or what led to the shooting was unclear. Police said Wooten’s last known address was in Queens.

It was not known how long Williams had lived there. The luxury, 28-story rental building, also known as One Clinton Park, was completed in 2022 and its sister building Two Clinton Park opened in June.

A woman who answered the phone at One Clinton Park on Sunday morning said management had no comment.

Detective Lt. Brian Fagan thanked the NYPD’s 103rd Precinct, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Westchester County police Real Time Crime Center and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office for assisting city police and detectives in the investigation.
