After officially confirming her vote for the Harris-Walz campaign via Instagram on November 3rd, Lady Gaga took the stage at an election eve Kamala Harris rally in Philadelphia. The Grammy and Oscar winner performed a rendition of “God Bless America” along with “The Edge of Glory.”
“Today, I’m holding in my heart all the tough, tenacious women who made me who I am,” Gaga said in a short speech following her performance of “God Bless America.” “I cast my vote for someone who will be a president for all Americans. Tomorrow, let’s make sure all your voices are heard.”
Oprah Winfrey also appeared at the event, which was hosted on the iconic steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum. Another Harris rally was simultaneously held in Pittsburgh, with Katy Perry assuming the role of headliner.
Lady Gaga is the latest A-lister to offer support for Harris, joining the likes of Taylor Swift, Bad Bunny, Bruce Springsteen, Billie Eilish, Neil Young, and Eminem in the Democratic camp for the 2024 election. Other artists who have endorsed the Harris-Walz ticket include Insane Clown Posse, Alanis Morissette, and Jason Isbell.
Her performance of “God Bless America” at Harris’ rally is one of Gaga’s first major appearances since the release of Joker: Folie à Deux, which flopped at the box office but offered a delightful excuse for the actress and singer to drop a very fun jazz companion project inspired by her character in the film.
Last month, the Mother Monster also made a grand return to pop music with her latest single, “Disease,” the first taste of an upcoming seventh studio album.
