Karamo Brown, from Queer Eye, is not mad about his non-invite to Taylor Swift’s birthday, even though Antoni Porowski and Jonathan Van Ness attended. The reality star wants fans to know that he’s in no way suffering from FOMO over his exclusion.
The 39-year-old Dancing With the Stars alum was incredibly gracious when speaking about the party. Swift turned 30 on December 13. This year’s birthday celebration included newly anointed squad members Halsey and Camila Cabello, as well as long-time friends Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. One might think Brown’s acquaintance with the pop star would have carried over into a friendship. After all, the entire Queer Eye gang appeared in Swift’s “You Need to Calm Down” video back in June 2019. However, it was only Van Ness and Porowski who received a seat at the party table. Brown thinks geography may have played a part in Swift’s decision.
“I live in L.A. and they live in New York, so maybe that’s part of the non-invite,” Brown said to Us Weekly. ”So it’s not shade, you know what I mean? It’s nothing like that.” He was also in the loop about the party itself, noting, “I love Taylor Swift and the boys had a good time for us.”
Swift has been notoriously protective of her celebrity friendships. Some of her past fetes included Orange is the New Black actress Uzo Aduba, Matthew Gray Gubler, bestie Todrick Hall, and ex Tom Hiddleston. During her “Bad Blood” era, she pulled close to models Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, and her sister Bella. The singer’s long-term friendship with Selena Gomez might just go down in history as one of the greatest love stories ever told. An allegedly drunk Swift was also recently featured in a viral video opposite Laverne Cox, partying the night away and singing to her own music playing in the background. While some of her friends are guest-list mainstays, it seems that there’s also a revolving door of attendees who filter in and out of various events in the singer’s life.
It’s ridiculous to think that a grown man with money and a hit show would be upset over not getting invited to a pop star’s birthday party. Brown is not an emotionally fragile first-grader, crying over his lack of friends. Swifties are loyal to their queen, and that’s commendable, but not everyone worships in the church of all things Taylor Swift. Brown probably never even realized his lack of invite until a reporter brought it up to him. He deserves a bit more credit than this headline, considering his work as an LGBTQ+ advocate, his careful reconstruction of his relationship with his father, as well as planning his wedding to Ian Jordan. However, if there were some tinge of upset, Brown can simply leave the “Lover” songstress off the guest list for his impending nuptials. That’ll teach her.
