Disney Star Wars Hasn’t Made A Wrong Move, Says Clone Wars Composer

Entertainment

Kevin Kiner, who composes the music for Star Wars: The Clone Wars, doesn’t believe that Disney has made a wrong decision so far with its handling of the Star Wars universe. His opinion is probably a controversial one, though, considering there are many extremely strong fan opinions about how Disney has treated the latest trilogy of films.

It might seem that no one hates Star Wars more than Star Wars fans. Unfortunately, this has resulted in a lot of hatred for particular characters, which has bled into hatred for the actors who portray them, leaving some to feel forced off social media after receiving harassment, threats and abuse. The response to Star Wars: The Last Jedi also received a considerable amount of hostility from fans. Many signed a petition to shut down the review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes over its mostly positive reviews of the film. Even the final film in the Skywalker saga, The Rise of Skywalker, is not without its haters. Most fans blame Disney for what they perceive to be the problems with the new movies, with many cursing the leadership of Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy’s handling of the franchise.

However, Kiner, who has composed the music for the animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars since 2008, believes Disney has made the right decisions with how it has handled Star Wars. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Kiner said:

“…I sort of just always kind of put my head down and composed for what’s in front of me and so in terms of moving forward with the next whatever that might be in Star Wars, I just love doing it. I don’t think guys like Dave Filoni and Kathleen Kennedy and people who are running the ship, they haven’t made a wrong call as far as I can see, so I’m happy to do whatever comes next and all I can say is I hope I get to compose for Star Wars as long as John Williams has, so in my 80s and still cranking I’ll be really happy about that.”

Interestingly enough, most Star Wars fans cite the animated series as some of the best of what the franchise has to offer. There was a lot of excitement when Disney announced a seventh and final season of The Clone Wars as an exclusive to its Disney+ streaming service. Star Wars Rebels also seems to get a lot of love and respect from fans. Fans seem to forget this, though, when cursing the company for its supposed mistreatment of the franchise. Disney has also been responsible for the well-received Disney+ series The Mandalorian, which gave the world the gift of what fans have lovingly dubbed as “Baby Yoda.”

It’s seemingly become trendy to hate on Disney over Star Wars, even though fans’ memories seem to be pretty short. They also hated George Lucas’ take on the prequels, which resulted in Star Wars actors being bullied, harassed and threatened – and that was before Disney acquired Lucasfilm. Still, it’s nice to see someone like Kiner speak up about Disney and Star Wars in a positive manner, reminding everyone that maybe Star Wars is actually in pretty good hands after all.
