A Black Adam fan video shows the DC character lurking deep in a cave. Black Adam is one of the DC Extended Universe’s most exciting upcoming movies and will feature Dwayne Johnson in the title role. It’s been a long journey to get the film made, with Johnson recently revealing he’s been working on it since 2008. Though there was talk of Black Adam potentially debuting in Shazam!, DC decided to hold off for a standalone film. Even though Shazam and Black Adam are enemies in the comics, Shazam also won’t appear in Black Adam, giving the character a chance to establish himself in the DCEU.
Of course, it’s still likely Black Adam and Shazam will meet at some point, with Shazam! star Zachary Levi sharing he’s looking forward to “epic fights” between the two. The timing of a meeting will also depend on how Black Adam does at the box office, though the star power of Dwayne Johnson will likely make it a success. Many think Black Adam and Shazam won’t meet, or at least have a proper face off, until Shazam 3 or Black Adam 2, as Levi has indicated that’s what’s most likely. However, there could be some sort of teaser during Shazam 2 or Black Adam, perhaps in the form of a post-credits scene.
As of now, much about Black Adam remains a mystery, though more will come to light when the movie finally begins shooting. Unfortunately, Johnson has revealed that won’t happen until August or September, due to the coronavirus. In lieu of actual footage from the upcoming film, one fan has created a short video featuring Black Adam. In the brief clip, created by noted digital artist venomhology, Black Adam is seen banished deep in a cave. Check it out below:
The video pays homage to Black Adam’s comic book origins, when he’s imprisoned in a tomb before eventually breaking free. At this point, it’s hard to know if the Black Adam movie will tell a similar story or take a different approach. However, the video makes a solid argument for focusing on it in some way, as even the short clip evokes an effectively dark mood. It’s also easy to imagine Johnson himself in the video, proving he’s the right actor to play Black Adam.
Considering Johnson’s popularity, it’s actually surprising he hasn’t had a role in the DCEU or Marvel Cinematic Universe yet. He seems like the perfect person to play a superhero or, in this case, anti-hero. It shows Johnson’s commitment to the character of Black Adam specifically and seeing the project through. Hopefully, when Black Adam finally releases next year, it will be clear Johnson’s hard work paid off.
