Pokémon Legends: Arceus’ Zorua, Zoroark & New Bonus Item Detailed

Entertainment

New specifics about Pokémon Legends: Arceus‘s Hisuian Zorua & Zoroark have been revealed along with a new bonus item that can be claimed by people who buy the Nintendo Switch game early. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is set in the ancient past of the Sinnoh region, back when it was called the Hisui region, and it has its own regional Pokémon that are new to the series.

The Hisuian Pokémon appearing in Pokémon Legends: Arceus are slowly being unveiled on the lead-up to the game’s January release. For example, Kleavor is Scyther’s Hisuian evolution, with a body made from rocks rather than the metallic Scizor evolution players have known since Gen 2. There is also the haunted Basculegion, a new evolution of Basculin which gains power from the ghosts of its fellow aquatic Pokémon. Most recently, Pokémon Legends: Arceus teased and revealed Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark in an interesting duo of trailers, and the ancient regional forms of the Pokémon are now white and pink rather than black and red.

New details about Pokémon Legends: Arceus’s Hisuian Zoroa and Zoroark were shared officially on Tuesday. A trailer on the official Pokémon YouTube channel shows the new Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark forms in-engine in the snowy Hisui area previously teased in an earlier trailer. Updates to the Pokémon Legends: Arceus website reveal the two Pokémon are now Normal/Ghost-types, with Hisuian Zorua being described as the Spiteful Fox and Hisuian Zoroark as the Baneful Fox. However, new information about the frozen Hisui region was not shared, but it bears some resemblance to Pokémon Sword and Shield’s Crown Tundra.

Another update to the game’s official site also announces a new bonus item can be claimed by early adopters of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Customers who purchase it and connect their Switch to the internet before May 9, 2022 can claim the Baneful Fox Mask, which can be worn by the player’s trainer using Pokémon Legends: Arceus’s clothing customization. As its name suggests, the mask’s design is based on Hisuian Zoroark’s appearance. Players do not need to have a Nintendo Switch Online membership to claim the Baneful Fox Mask.

The Zorua line has remained popular since its introduction in Pokémon Black and White, thanks in no small part to their unique gimmick allowing them to mimic the appearance of other Pokémon. Pokémon Legends: Arceus is making the line even more special by giving them a unique Normal/Ghost type combination, one specifically widely requested by players. The ability to sport an interesting kabuki-like fox mask is just the icing on the cake for how The Pokémon Company is promoting this new Hisuian form of the Zorua line.
