Star Wars Confirms Luke’s Jedi Temple In Boba Fett Is Same As Last Jedi

Entertainment

Star Wars canon confirms Luke Skywalker’s budding Jedi temple featured in the most recent episode of The Book of Boba Fett is the same one shown via flashbacks in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The newest bit of Star Wars content to be released, Disney+ series The Book of Boba Fett, has provided numerous deep dives into canon history. From bringing back characters who were deleted from A New Hope to featuring the live-action debut of Cad Bane, Boba Fett has been throwing lots of Star Wars trivia at fans over the course of its 7-episode run.

Last week’s installment brought this to a whole new level with an episode that featured well-known Star Wars characters like Din Djarin, Ahsoka Tano, and Luke Skywalker. It marked Luke’s second live-action television appearance after The Mandalorian‘s season 2 finale. The Book of Boba Fett finds Luke doing exactly what he said he would do in that finale: Training powerful young Grogu in the ways of the Jedi. Audiences, alongside a visiting Din, get a glimpse at the beginnings of what appears to be Luke’s much-discussed Jedi school and its temple.

Fans may have noted Boba Fett‘s temple resembles the one seen in 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and they would’ve been right to make that jump. In a post listing the highlights of The Book of Boba Fett episode 6, Star Wars confirms the temple in the installment is the same one shown in The Last Jedi‘s flashbacks. As the site pointed out, The Book of Boba Fett offers an early picture, back when the temple still had “ant droids working hard to place every stone on the first humble hut.”

Book of Boba Fett Luke Jedi temple

The Last Jedi specifically features flashbacks to the Jedi temple’s destruction at the hands of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). As Luke’s nephew, Kylo Ren was one of the many students at the temple, and when he fell to the dark side, he set it ablaze. Those scenes and the ones in The Book of Boba Fett are the only times when Luke’s temple has been shown onscreen; comics have filled in additional bits of history, and the temple received a different backstory in the now-defunct Expanded Universe.

Since so little has been revealed of Luke’s Jedi temple, it has become a source of fascination for many. It was cool to see its origins in The Book of Boba Fett, but there are still years and years of backstory left to be filled in. With Lucasfilm producing so many projects set within the Star Wars universe, there could be more ahead for this part of Luke Skywalker’s life. Fans will have to stay tuned to find out for sure.
