Pop star Bebe Rexha has shared pictures of her black eye after she was hit by a mobile phone while performing on stage.

Footage shared online from the gig in New York showed the phone hitting the star on the forehead after being thrown by a person in the crowd.

The singer, whose real name is Bleta Rexha, then stumbles backwards and puts her hand up to her face before turning away from the audience and falling to her knees.

She was taken to hospital for treatment.

Posting to her 10.7 million followers on Instagram, the 33-year-old was pictured with a large purple bruise on her eyelid and stitching tape on her eyebrow.

In another picture, which seemed to have been taken on the night of the incident, her eye was swollen and a long cut could be seen underneath her eyebrow.

Posing with her thumb up, the star captioned the post “I’m good” a nod to her Brit-nominated song I’m Good (Blue), which she collaborated on with French DJ David Guetta.

A host of famous faces commented on the post to show their support for the singer, including 2006 X Factor winner Leona Lewis, who wrote: “Sending love.”

Rexha is not the first to have been injured by fans throwing things onto stage.

Last year, sweet brand Skittles appealed for people not to throw the candy after Harry Styles was reportedly hit by one during a concert.

Styles was seen waving to the crowd before rubbing his eye as the sweets were thrown at him from the audience.

Rexha is next due to perform on 20 June at The Fillmore in Philadelphia. She is set to play in London on 28 July at the O2 Shepherds Bush Empire.
