‘Lioness’ on the loose in Berlin sparks stay inside alert

World

A wild animal – believed to be a lioness – is on the loose on the outskirts of German capital Berlin.

A helicopter is being used to track it and police tweeted in the early hours to tell people to stay inside and bring in their pets.

It’s thought to be in the Kleinmachnow, Teltow or Stahnsdorf area on the southwest fringes of the city.

German media reported that witnesses raised the alarm after seeing the animal chasing a wild boar.

No zoos or circuses have so far reported missing an animal, so it’s unclear where it came from.

About an hour ago, police said the big cat was still unaccounted for.

“The escaping wild animal has NOT been found yet! We still ask you not to leave the house. If you see the animal, please call the emergency number 110!,” Brandenburg police tweeted.
