On Saturday, Kate Middleton headed to the Stade Vélodrome in Marseille, France, to watch England compete in the Rugby World Cup. The Princess of Wales is the Patron of the Rugby Football Union and the Rugby Football League, and attends big events for the team regularly.
Kate dressed in a chic white suit by Alexander McQueen, with matching white heels. The Princess carried a woven leather Massimo Dutti clutch, and left her hair down in long waves. Dressing up the outfit, Kate wore Mappin & Webb diamond earrings and a diamond necklace, the Empress Diamond Pendant, both set in white gold.
During the match, Kate sat with World Rugby Chairman Bill Beaumont and went to congratulate the team after their big win. She recently appeared on Mike Tindall’s Rugby podcast with her husband Prince William. The couple discussed why they tried to instill a love of sports into their children.
“The team environment of sport played a big part in my life and my upbringing,” said William. “I gelled and loved being in that quadrant of fear, noise, competitiveness with your mates and your team around you.”
He added, “I loved the highs and the lows, looking out for each other if someone got injured or if someone was feeling a bit left out, you’d go and make sure they’re included.”
He wanted his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, to have similar experiences.
“It’s that camaraderie, that relationship-building [and] learning to lose, which I think we’ve got to concentrate more on nowadays. I think people don’t know how to lose well,” he went on. “Talking about our children in particular, I want to make sure they understand that. It’s really important from a young age to understand how to lose and why we lose and then to grow from it through that process.”
Kate shared, “What’s really interesting is that they all have very different temperaments. As they are growing and trying out different sports, and it’s going to be to see how that grows and develops [over time].”
