The first teaser trailer for Wicked has arrived, offering a first look at the film’s stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo. Grande plays Glinda opposite Erivo’s Elphaba; the Jon M. Chu-directed film got a first look with footage at last year’s CinemaCon. Watch the new trailer below and scroll down for the film poster. Wicked hits theaters on Thanksgiving of this year.
The cast of the film also includes Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard, plus Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh, Jonathan Bailey, Bowen Yang, and Ethan Slater. Prior to being cast in Wicked, Grande often spoke about being a fan of the musical and performed its songs live.
While working on the film, Grande made a rare social media statement to fans regarding body image. “I know personally for me, the body you’ve been comparing my current body to was the unhealthiest version of my body,” she said. “I was on a lot of anti-depressants, and drinking on them, and eating poorly and at the lowest points of my life when I looked the way you consider ‘my healthy.’ But that in fact wasn’t my healthy.” She encouraged everyone to “be gentle with each other and yourselves.”
