Spoilers ahead for The End of Oak Street.
It’s a big year for Anne Hathaway, who is releasing a whopping five movies throughout 2026. The latest of these is David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street, which is set in the ’80s and shows a neighborhood being transported into the time of dinosaurs. I just saw the new sci-fi flick in theaters, and there’s one part of the movie’s ending that I can’t stop thinking about.
The End of Oak Street had plenty of huge twists, especially during its thrilling conclusion. Because after Ewan McGregor‘s Greg sacrifices himself, he’s resurrected when the family returns to the ’80s and stops him from being sucked up in the wormhole that moved the entire neighborhood. The movie’s time jump reveals what happens afterward, and I can’t get over its final shot.

The Movie Ending On Two Jeannettes Blew My Mind.
Reviews praised The End of Oak Street, and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed its unexpected story throughout its 99-minute runtime. The movie’s epilogue revealed that Denise finally became an author after writing about their time-traveling adventure, and that she was able to save various neighbors from their grisly fate at the hands of the dinosaurs. But it’s Jeannette and the Christiansens that have continued capturing my attention since leaving the theater.
Jeanette is a neighbor girl that Brian has a crush on in the movie. She loses her parents to dinosaurs off-screen and spends the rest of the movie with the Platt family as they fight for survival. After returning to the ’80s she goes to warn her parents about the wormhole, saving them from their deaths in the process.
This was an interesting enough concept, but there was one huge complication: another version of Jeannette was with her parents when they were teleported away. And The End Of Oak Street‘s epilogue showed the Platts and the Christiansens having a barbecue, including two identical versions of Jordan Alexa Davis’s character. So while Jeannette was able to save her family’s life, there are now two different version of her walking around.
We don’t get any real context about how the Christiansens are functioning with this world-changing shift to their family dynamic, although both Jeannettes seem happy when we see them in the movie’s final shot. And I so wish that we got more information about how the family, and the world at large, reacted to there suddenly two versions of the same young woman coexisting. Plus, how did the government react? Alas, those questions were left unanswered.
The End of Oak Street is in theaters now as part of the 2026 movie release list. Hopefully we get more information about the two Jeannettes sometime in the future.
