Michigan Looks Lost For Republicans As Abdul El-Sayed’s Lead Grows After Trump Rally

It is a bit soon to tell, but new polling released after Donald Trump’s rally for Mike Rogers shows that Abdul El-Sayed’s lead has been growing in the state with a week to go before the midterm election.

While it is too soon to have firm polling to measure the direct impact of Trump’s Sunday rally full of racism and bigotry, the landscape appears to already be shifting away from Rogers.

A new WDIV/Detroit News poll found El-Sayed leading Rogers 51.4%-45.1% Michigan voters who know Mike Rogers don’t like him, as his favorability rating is a net (-15), with 32% of voters favoring him and 47 giving the Republican an unfavorable rating.

Abdul El-Sayed has a net (-2) favorable rating, with 42% of voters favoring him and 44% giving the Democrat an unfavorable rating.

Rogers is flailing to close out the election as he had a very uncomfortable Meet The Press where he refused to say that he is MAGA Republican on the same day that he rallied with Donald Trump.

The Trump rally itself was a disaster, and Trump didn’t try to hide his bigoted attacks on El-Sayed. The president even tried to connect the Democratic candidate, who was 16 years old at the time, to the 9/11 attacks.

The state of the race helps to explain JD Vance’s complete desperation as he campaigned in Michigan on Tuesday.
