PondHawks: “Afraid of Love” by Dale Kent
Five stars for this duet on their “Afraid of Love” single! I love The Beatles and obviously so do they as apparent from their newest single. The song is reminiscent of the early Beatles style only Mario and Jorie were able to make it their own. The two are based in Chicago and have a large following and growing everyday.
The song is message driven with a surprise twist or ending. It possesses deep instrumentals as the duo lends itself to an extremely full sound. Their other tunes also possess this as well as intense harmonies and an internal vibe that bonds them.
The PondHawks have been together for several years. Their music has no genre boundaries, each is different from the next, however in each there is a slight Beatle influence. Their songs are all colorful and harmonic. “Afraid of Love” is electronic at the beginning but infused with ballad and pop throughout. Mario’s voice is strong yet emotional and passionate while Jorie’s harmonies add the luscious richness to the song. These two are a great team and I’m looking forward to hearing their next endeavor.
In the meanwhile I strongly suggest an essential listen to “Afraid of Love” as well as the other tunes from The PondHawks.
