Halloween 2018 Teases Releasing Alternate Laurie Vs. Michael Ending

Entertainment

Blumhouse teases the possibility of releasing an alternate scene for 2018’s Halloween. After seven lackluster sequels from 1981 to 2002 and two less than satisfying films from Rob Zombie, fans were treated to David Gordon Green’s Halloween, which acted as a sequel to the original 1979 film and retconned every plotline that occurred after.

2018’s Halloween did well with fans and critics partly due to the script by Jeff Fradley, Danny McBride, and Green. The final act of the film shows an epic showdown between Michael Myers and Laurie Strode, the latter of which boobytrapped her home to catch the boogeyman. When the film was released on Blu-ray, fans got several BTS featurettes and deleted scenes from Halloween. Despite not appearing on the Blu-ray, there are a few other deleted scenes from the ending, including a knife fight between Laurie and Michael, but now another alternate scene might see the light of day.

Despite many fans enjoying the ending that showed up on screen, some fans have taken to Twitter using #HalloweenAtHome to ask Blumhouse to post some unreleased footage. Blumhouse responded by revealing that there is a deleted scene of Michael hiding between the mannequins in Laurie’s shooting range and that they could finish the scene at some point.

With Halloween dominating the box office back in October 2018, a sequel was inevitable. Last July, Blumhouse announced two sequels: Halloween Kills and Halloween EndsHalloween Kills will bring back the core cast members of the first film, including Jamie Lee Curtis, James Jude Courtney, Judy Greer, and Andi Matichak, but they will also be bringing back a few cast members from previous Halloween movies as well. Kyle Richards is returning as Lindsey Wallace, who was a character in the first film, but Tommy Doyle has been recast with Anthony Michael Hall. Other returning characters include Sheriff Leigh Brackett (Charles Cypher) and Nurse Marion Chambers (Nancy Stephens). Story details on the other hand are being kept under wraps.

While Blumhouse may or may not ever release additional footage of Halloween‘s ending, fans would certainly love to see it. The last part of Blumhouse’s tweet hints that the scene might appear in a sequel, but with Laurie’s house going up in flames, it’s possible her shooting range burned down as well. Also, the scene described above does sound a lot like the mannequin scene that takes place in one of Laurie’s bedrooms, so it’s possible the shooting range scene won’t ever see the light of day since it’s so similar to what appeared in the film.
