Pokémon GO Fans Set To Vote On Community Day Monsters

Entertainment

The candidate Pokémon have been selected for the next Pokémon GO Community Day, and it is up to the community to decide which monster is featured during the September and October Community Day events. While voting has not yet become available, the community has already voiced which two of the four Pokémon they want to see featured during the upcoming community days.

This is not the first time Pokémon GO has allowed players to vote on which mons they wanted for community day. In May of this year, players chose between Weedle, Sandshrew, Squirtle, and Gastly to decide which would be featured during the June and July Community Day events. Weedle was chosen for June as it received the majority of the votes, followed by Gastly in July who came second in the polls. Weedle won by a landslide as its shiny form had yet to be added to Pokémon GO and now it is available for players to hunt outside of Community Days.

The official Pokémon GO Twitter tweeted announced that it is time for players to, once again, decide which Pokémon will be featured in upcoming events. The four Pokémon that have been placed on the ballot are Charmander, Porygon, Grimer, and Caterpie. All four already have their shiny forms available in-game, so none have a distinct advantage over the other. However, players are already replying to the tweet with who they would like to see featured, and the tweets are heavily slanted in a certain direction. While the replies are slightly mixed, Porygon and Charmander have seen overwhelming support and will likely be the featured mons.

Community Days are monthly events in Pokémon GO that feature a single Pokémon for a few hours on a specific day. Usually, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. local time, the spawn rate for the chosen Pokémon is drastically increased, and the shiny rate is also increased to about 1 in 20. While a single Pokémon has yet to be featured twice, Charmander has already had his own Community Day in 2018. If Charmander were to win, he would be the first Pokémon in Pokémon GO to be featured during two separate Community Day events.

Sadly, Grimer doesn’t seem to be receiving much love on Twitter. Scrolling through the replies, there are even a few bug boys who desperately want to see Caterpie featured, but Grimer seems to be pretty neglected. There are more people promoting other Pokémon that aren’t listed than there are for Grimer. As someone who has been hunting for shiny Grimer in Pokémon GO and has been holding off on evolving theirs into a Muk, it would be nice to have a Grimer Community Day. But let’s not waste our votes on anything other than Porygon.
