A lot of things have fallen victim to 2020, including our collective sense of joy as a society. But there’s one thing that doesn’t seem to go away, no matter what: The Masked Singer. The show, which features celebrities singing covers of songs underneath elaborate costumes, is extremely silly. When is season 5 coming?
Here’s a helpful, very 2020 answer: unclear! But season 5 is definitely coming in 2021. “I’m so happy to announce a new season of The Masked Singer,” Rob Wade, Fox’s president of alternative entertainment, told Variety on December 2. “This show brings joy to so many families across the country, especially during these trying times, and we can’t wait to get even more celebrities suited up in crazy costumes for an hour of pure fun every week.”
What new characters should we expect to see?
I mean, what characters haven’t we had on this show? We had “Baby Alien” (Mark Sanchez) on the show this season. But, as Cosmopolitan points out, we still have a whole list of leafy greens to get through in the vegetable family. None of the characters have been announced yet, but it doesn’t seem like in-house designer Marina Toybina has ever had a boring idea.
Will the panelists be the same?
The judges will likely still be the same, as Fox has not announced anything to the contrary. But, because this pandemic isn’t going to be over for a while, Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy, Robin Thicke, and Ken Jeong will still be spaced at least six feet away from each other, at a table that looks as long as Princess Diana’s wedding-dress train.
