A new glitch discovered in Pokémon Unite is granting Blastoise the ability to spam its ultra-powerful Unite Move. The Pokémon-based MOBA game has received its fair share of criticism since its release on Nintendo Switch in July 2021. Outside of a handful of glitches that have been quickly addressed, Pokémon Unite‘s pay-to-win accusations have remained a major part of community discourse. Despite this, developer TiMi and The Pokémon Company haven’t slowed down the rollout of updates and new characters for the game.
So far the title has received an additional three playable characters since its launch, with Pokémon Unite finally getting Blastoise most recently. The fully-evolved Kanto starter had previously been playable in Pokémon Unite‘s beta tests and was even featured in the game’s tutorials at launch, leaving gamers scratching their heads over Blastoise’s delayed inclusion. Thankfully, the Pokémon finally got its due, but a new bug may have just complicated Blastoise’s inclusion.
A new glitch discovered by Reddit user AgentUndertaker allows Blastoise to spam its Unite Move approximately three times within 30 seconds. As the powerful attack often requires a significant amount of time and energy, the ability to use it that frequently is game-breaking, to say the least. TiMi and The Pokémon Company have yet to comment on the Blastoise glitch, but, likely, a fix is already in the works. At least, that’s based on how responsive the companies have been in implementing feedback from the Pokémon Unite community.

Blastoise has quickly become a favorite Defender amongst Pokémon Unite players thanks to its build potential. Meanwhile, Pokémon Unite‘s addition of Gardevoir and Blissey has led to slight changes in the game’s ever-evolving meta. They may not have resulted in what might be considered a game-breaking bug like Blastoise’s Unite Move, but they have brought some much-needed stylistic variety to the roster. There will be plenty of other characters added to Pokémon Unite as well, which has left many in the community hoping their favorite Pocket Monster makes the cut.
After Blastoise, Mamoswine and Sylveon are both coming to Pokémon Unite. The newcomers look like they’ll make for fun additions to the game, although they are currently without a release date. While fans await details on release specifics, however, here’s hoping that this Blastoise glitch gets patched sooner rather than later.
Pokémon Unite is currently available on Nintendo Switch and will arrive on mobile devices on September 22, 2021.
