Emily Blunt to Host the 2021 CFDA Fashion Awards

The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) announced today that actress Emily Blunt is slated to host its annual CFDA Fashion Awards, to be held on November 10, 2021. Blunt will join industry insiders and celebrity supporters alike to celebrate the incredible achievements in fashion over the past year.

“Emily is one of the most talented actresses in the world. Her timeless style and elegance light up any room,” wrote CFDA chairman Tom Ford in a press release. “The wonderful thing about Emily is that she is both kind and intelligent. I have great admiration for her, and I am so happy to have her as the host of this year’s CFDA awards.

No stranger to the world of high fashion, Blunt will make an ideal host (she wore Miu Miu to the last event held in September). She is a fixture on nearly everyone’s best dressed list, making a habit of stealing the spotlight on the red carpet in ensembles that infuse old-Hollywood glamour with a contemporary twist. Although the actress is best known for her role as Emily Charlton, the whip-smart assistant to Miranda Priestly in the cult-favorite fashion film, The Devil Wears Prada (2006), Blunt is never one to rest on her laurels. In 2021, she was cast in Jungle Cruise and A Quiet Place Part II.

The CFDA has been a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the fashion industry since its inception in 1962. Through its various initiatives such as the CFDA Fashion Awards, the not-for-profit organization offers crucial financial and developmental business support to America’s emerging talents. This year’s awards ceremony will be held in-person on November 10th at THE POOL + THE GRILL, the swanky seafood venue located on New York’s Park Avenue.

Among the nominees are Emily Adams Bode for Bode, Peter Do, Khaite’s Catherine Holstein, Jameel Mohammed of KHIRY, Maisie Wilen’s Maisie Schloss, Thom Browne, and The Olsen twins for The Row. The prestigious Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award will go to Dapper Dan, while Aurora James will receive the Founder’s Award in honor of Eleanor Lambert for her 15 Percent Pledge. ELLE’s own Nina Garcia will present the Media Award in honor of Eugenia Sheppard. We’re just as excited to learn who the winners are, as we are to see their turns on the red carpet. Stay tuned for more details on fashion’s biggest night.
