Panda Bear has made public a new song that was apparently rejected by popular meditation app Calm. On Monday (April 11), he tweeted a link to download a 17-minute song file titled “calm app (rejected).wav.” The upload sparked reasonable speculation that Panda Bear’s piece had, in fact, been turned down by the app, a platform that has commissioned music from Clams Casino, Flock of Dimes, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, RZA, Moses Sumney, Emily A. Sprague, and more. You can listen to Panda Bear’s new song below.

When contacted by Pitchfork, a representative for Panda Bear offered no comment. Pitchfork has also reached out to representatives for Calm for more information and comment.

Panda Bear issued his last solo album Buoys in 2019. Earlier this year, Animal Collective returned with their latest LP, Time Skiffs.
