Emmy award-winning actor Leslie Jordan has died in a car accident.

The 67-year-old was driving in Hollywood when he crashed into a building on Monday morning.

It is believed he suffered a medical emergency, Variety reports.

The actor, famed for his southern drawl, starred in numerous TV series, including Will & Grace and American Horror Story.

The Tennessee native, who also starred in the films The Help and The United States vs. Billie Holiday, posted daily videos of himself on Instagram during the COVID-19 lockdowns.

His social media following ballooned from around 80,000 to more than 5.8 million as his clips, many of which featured him talking about his past and using his catchphrase “How y’all doin?” went viral.

Earlier this month he had released a gospel album called “Company’s Comin'” featuring Dolly Parton and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder among others.

He also wrote a book about his life, released last year, titled: How Y’all Doing?: Misadventures and Mischief from a Life Well Lived.

‘The world is definitely a much darker place today’

Jordan grew up in Tennessee and moved to Los Angeles in 1982 to kickstart his showbiz career.

The star revealed he had struggled with drug and alcohol abuse since his 20s, and announced in 2010 that he had been sober for 13 years.

During the AIDS crisis, he was involved with the AIDS Project Los Angeles and Project Angel Food.

His agent David Saul said in a statement: “The world is definitely a much darker place today without the love and light of Leslie Jordan.

“Not only was he a mega talent and joy to work with, but he provided an emotional sanctuary to the nation at one of its most difficult times.

“What he lacked in height he made up for in generosity and greatness as a son, brother, artist, comedian, partner and human being.

“Knowing that he has left the world at the height of both his professional and personal life is the only solace one can have today.”
