The result is a steady stream of style inspiration that comes, not from the red carpet or the runway, but from normal men like you. In 2019, gentlemen, you didn’t disappoint.
Our photographers charted the big shifts and emerging menswear trends as they happened, in the outfits of regular guys. This was the year the big tailoring rethink became normal – note the looser fits and just how few ties are worn below. It was also the year men fully embraced the great outdoors. Fleece and Gore-Tex were the unlikely must-have fabrics, trail runners the surprise sneaker trend.
We saw statement bags and big scarves, considered casualwear and brave colour choices.
The best thing we noticed on the streets, however, was how men took hugely comfortable and practical clothes and wore them in interesting ways. That’s what style is really about, so take the below as inspiration for your 2020 wardrobe.
