The Simpsons Season 31 Is Now Streaming On Disney+ | Screen Rant

The Simpsons season 31 is now available to watch on Disney+. The streaming service launched in November 2019 and has curated a mix of existing and original programming. In addition to The Simpsons, Disney+ houses the majority of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, as well as plenty of Star Wars content. However, the streamer’s originals have arguably gotten more attention. The Mandalorian was an undeniable success story, as was Hamilton when it debuted over the summer. Disney recently used the platform to premiere its live-action Mulan, albeit at a higher price point. Additionally, the streamer’s MCU shows have yet to launch but should provide an additional boost.

Within Disney+’s existing programming, the inclusion of The Simpsons was particularly exciting. Made possible by Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, audiences were able to stream all past seasons of the series upon launch. However, there were some hiccups, as the show’s original aspect ratio was altered on Disney+. This meant some jokes from earlier in the series were affected, prompting outcry from fans. Disney committed to restoring The Simpsons to its original aspect ratio, though it took several months to rectify.

This week, The Simpsons season 31 was added to the Disney+ library. Consisting of 22 episodes, it finished airing this past May. Season 31 featured several celebrity guests, including John Mulaney, Jason Momoa, and Kevin Smith. One episode, “Bart the Bad Guy,” was a season highlight, as it took on the Avengers movies with a little help from Kevin Feige, the Russo brothers, and Cobie Smulders. Several episodes of season 31 were similarly well-received, making it a great addition to Disney+.

The Simpsons fans should be glad to hear they can now enjoy the series with the newest season. It will hopefully set the precedent for when future episodes of the show are released on Disney+. The streamer has gone out of its way to make the platform a friendly space for Simpsons viewers, even organizing the show’s episodes by theme in addition to season. Disney is going above and beyond to prove it’s happy to have the show on its streaming service.

Producer Michael Price spoke to this recently, explaining Disney has no plans to alter The Simpsons to make it align more closely with the company’s brand. Disney is taking a similar approach with the Deadpool franchise, despite its adult content. It seems The Simpsons‘ relationship with Disney+, and the company at large, remains a positive one.
