Neon unveiled a new first look trailer for its big winter film, psychological thriller A Place In Hell, starring Michelle Willimas and Daisy Edgar-Jones, written and directed by Chloe Domont (Fair Play). The stars are two dueling powerhouse lawyers working a case where it seems there can be only one.
“I’m not just going to replace you .. I am going to destroy your f–king life,” says Egdar-Jones’ younger up-and-comer to Williams’ more seasoned pro, gripping a metal pipe after being driven to the brink. “It’s you or me.”
Neon rolled out the footage Tuesday at CinemaCon, the annual exhibition industry conference in Las Vegas. It’s set a Dec. 25 release date.
Williams plays cutthroat criminal defense attorney on the verge of making partner, who sees her ambitions upended when a younger lawyer (Edgar-Jones) is brought in to replace her. As rivalry escalates into a battle for control, the two women are pushed together for one complicated case, and push each other to dangerous extremes.
Produced by MRC and T-Street and co-financed by Neon, MRC and Republic Pictures.
The indie distributor also showed a first teaser for sci-fi thriller Hope by Na Hong-Jin, which it just acquired as its fifth film in competition in Cannes next month that’s currently in post-production.
The international cast includes Korean Hwang Jung-min, Zo In-sung, Hoyeon, Alicia Vikander, Michael Fassbender, Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton.
The synopsis reads: “In Hope Harbor, a remote village near the Demilitarized Zone, police chief Bum-seok receives alarming news from local youths that a tiger has appeared. As the village erupts into panic, Bum-seok is forced to confront a reality beyond belief.”
Neon’s other new footage included upcoming horror films Hokum and Leviticus, with Adam Scott, and Boots Riley’s buzzy, absurdist fashion caper comedy I Love Boosters.
