Andy Stott Returns With First Album in Five Years

Entertainment

After a five-year break from studio releases, Andy Stott has returned to his toolbox for a new album. Late Loop, a press release notes, is the product of fewer tools than usual: The British producer made the record using no basslines, no reverb, and no effects but a delay unit. The follow-up to Never the Right Time arrives October 30, via Modern Love. Watch Kitty Handley’s video for new track “Something in Mind” below.

After evolving from an experimental drone album to “something like brass band concrète,” Stott decided he wanted the album to be more song-led, the press release notes. To that end, two singers, Alison Skidmore and Elaine Howley, came into the fold and feature on every song on the album, the latter on “Something in Mind.” Scroll down to see the tracklist and Myriam Boulos’ album art.
